A Letter from Dr. Ferdi Visintainer, VMD

I have always loved being a veterinarian and I still do. But my bucket list is beginning to overflow, so I’ve decided to retire.

First, to my clients:
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the kindest, most generous, animal lovers in the world. You have allowed me to be part of your life and taught me how strong the bond between a person and their pet can be. I counted on you knowing your friend better than I and that you would make the best decisions for their care. You never let me down. For this, I thank you.

Second, to my staff and colleagues:
I’ve had the honor of spending my days with the brightest, most compassionate, caring, and dedicated people on earth. These include – my partners and the other veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants; the office staff – our one and only business manager, the receptionists, and clerical staff; the people behind the scenes – the maintenance and kennel staff – all those who have graced the Country Doctor with their time, I consider you as family. You were always prepared to stay longer and go the extra mile for our patients. And you did it with a smile. You continued to laugh at my jokes even when I no longer signed your paychecks. You challenged me to do my best. For this, I thank you.

I also wish to thank the veterinary specialists, the veterinary ER doctors, and their technicians and staffs throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Your knowledge and expertise have exponentially improved the care provided to our patients. Thanks for all your help and support – I’ve learned so much from you.

It is obvious why these two groups of wonderful people have chosen the field of veterinary medicine.

Although the Country Doctor is a veterinary hospital, it is also a business. I was trained as a veterinarian, but not on running a business. I want to thank my accountant and the New Tripoli Bank for their continuous support and assistance; they played a major role in the success of our hospital. Additionally, there are several veterinary distributors and vendors that went above and beyond to help me when I was first starting out; they fully supported the Country Doctor throughout my career. They also were huge contributors to our success.

Lastly, I would like to thank Dr. James Langman who founded the Country Doctor. He took a chance on a young veterinarian and, on a handshake alone, started a partnership. I will always be grateful for his guidance and mentorship. More than medicine, he taught me about the human side of veterinary medicine. I hope he is proud of his Country Doctor Veterinary Hospital.

Most of all, I would like to thank my wife, daughters, and family for their unwavering support while I followed my dream. Without them I could have never done it.

It was once said, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I owe it to all of you for me never having to work a day in my life. I’ve had a blast. Now it’s time for me to drain the bucket. All the best to you and your families (including the 4-legged members). Perhaps our paths will cross.
